A weekend stay at South Allington House on the southernmost tip of Devon’s South Hams

Snuggled in a cosy nook on the southernmost tip of Devon’s South Hams is the lovely, family-run South Allington House. Blessed with a certain ‘Darling Buds of May’ rural charm, this place is supremely special in every way – from the award-winning cream teas served out on the lawn to the warmth of owners Edward and Barbara who will do their upmost to make your stay as magical as possible.

With five bed and breakfast rooms in the main house, three self-catering cottages in the grounds and acres of open space for campers and caravanners of all ages, there is something to suit every style and budget. The very best of Devon is right on your doorstep – begging to be explored by foot, car, sail boat or bicycle. You’ll find hidden coves and beaches, miles of National Trust coast path, beautiful historic houses and lots of great independent shops and markets overflowing with local produce.

It’s a part of the world where days are best spent exploring the coastline, enjoying long lunches in cosy pubs, building sandcastles and picnicking on the sand. It all sounds very Enid Blyton I know, and maybe even too good to be true, but visit on a sunny day and there really is nowhere in the world you would rather be.
